THE SHIELD XVII đĄď¸ LâWS OF LIBERTY Part 2 [the perfect law]
Welcome to The Shield.
In last week's edition I listed certain spiritual laws that we find mentioned in the New Testament portion of the Holy Bible.
These laws work for you especially if you have eternal life. Eternal life is a description of the quality of life that God possesses, not merely a reference to the longevity of that life.
The life was made manifest, and we have seen it, and testify to it and proclaim to you the eternal life, which was with the Father and was made manifest to us.
1 John 1:2 ESV
Do you have eternal life?
It is something that you either know or you don't. It comes when you receive the Word of the Gospel by faith, believe in the resurrection of Christ and confess the Lordship of Jesus personally.
I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God, that you may know that you have eternal life.
1 John 5:13 ESV
1. THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY
JAMES 1:25 NKJV
But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does.
This is the first spiritual law that we will consider in particular.
The first thing I want to point out to you is that this is a law that you have to practice. You DO it until it becomes a habit; then it becomes a lifestyle, until it becomes natural.
How it works:
You look into the scriptures and see your true self - your identity, your character, your manner of life.
Then, you keep the picture of what you saw and you act it out in daily life. You see to do.
I can take it a step further and say, You see and do, because you areâŚ
Fact. Once you are born again of the seed of God's Word, you carry within you the ability and grace to live the life that God has given to you.
And of His fullness we have all received, and grace for grace.
For the law was given through Moses, but grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:16-17 NKJV
It is the mirror principle.
The Word of God is the mirror.
You see your true reality in the Word.
Then you live by that image, through the power of the Holy Spirit.
But we all, with unveiled face, beholding as in a mirror the glory of the Lord, are being transformed into the same image from glory to glory, just as by the Spirit of the Lord.
II Corinthians 3:18 NKJV.
Here you can see who God has made you in Christ Jesus: THE GLORY OF THE LORD.
âŚand your life goes FROM GLORY TO GLORY.
That's why He says in James that the one who keeps by this law shall be BLESSED in what he does.
Finally, I want to emphasize that it has to do with what you do, but just as much with how you use your words. If you see the truth in God's Word, but speak contrary to it, you sow the wrong seeds in the soil of your heart and frustrate your progress.
For we all stumble in many things. If anyone does not stumble in word, he is a perfect man, able also to bridle the whole body. James 3:2 NKJV.
This law is the principle God revealed in Joshua chapter one.
The Lord showed him
who he was⌠STRONG AND COURAGEOUS.
what he had⌠GOD'S ABIDING PRESENCE.
and how to live it⌠BY MEDITATING ON THE WORD CONTINUALLY, KEEPING IT IN HIS MOUTH; AND OBSERVING IT TO DO IT!
The result: Joshua, by applying this law, would make his way prosperous and would have good success!
In fact, the Lord promised that nobody would be able to stand before Joshua all his life.
Wow, that is THE PERFECT LAW OF LIBERTY.
James 1:25 AMPC
But he who looks carefully into the faultless law, the [law] of liberty, and is faithful to it and perseveres in looking into it, being not a heedless listener who forgets but an active doer [who obeys], he shall be blessed in his doing (his life of obedience).
The most extraordinary day that was!
Thanks for reading;
next timeâs letter will contain the second of our four spiritual laws - laws for freedom.
